Loi Krathong Day is considered a festival to ask for forgiveness from the Mae Kongkha who protects rivers and canals. Thai people, especially in northern Thailand, bring krathongs made from banana leaves putting flowers, incense sticks, candles. We will make the Krathong by hand, help each other make an example, then go to worship at Wat Phra Singh to receive holy water from the monks before we go to Wat Phan Tao to light candles to worship the Lord Buddha and float the Krathong in the river. We’ll take you on a tour tonight. Follow the procession ending at the river and hang out together. It is not allowed to release lanterns here. But you will learn and do activities together with local people and it costs less. Follow announcements from the local government. The Songkran Festival is held from April 13 to 15 every year if you want to touch the Songkran water with the people of Chiang Mai. Come spend the night from April 11 to 15, corresponding to the summer season in Thailand, play the water around the moat, usually for 2 days, from April 11 to 12. On other days, participate in ceremonies and learn about this festival , culture in various temples. You can still visit other places as usual. You can expect to see the Phra Singh procession on the 15th at Wat Phra Singh in the morning if you book multiple tours with us. We will be your friends for free today.
Flower and ornamental day, in winter, will be in February according to the local government calendar. There are processions where groups from different neighborhoods will join, bringing flowers to decorate the vehicles. It is very beautiful. You shouldn’t miss it. Flower processions showing various images according to beliefs, religions and cultures are organized in Buak Haad Park and can be seen for at least 3 days. You can walk around and see it at night.
